What Is A Cynosure Cynergy II?

In 2005 an article stated, "Cynergy is destined to become the new standard for treating specific vascular malformations such as port wine stains," Telangiectasia, vascular and pigmented lesions, adolescent acne, scars and unwanted hair growth in children with associated syndromes.

The Cynergy is different to the lasers currently used at Great Ormond Street Hospital because it produces two wavelengths from two different lasers within the same machine. The two wavelengths would then be delivered from the same hand piece at almost the same time. "By using both wavelengths through one fibre some of the limitations of each laser [Pulse Dye & ND:YAG] may be reduced or in some cases eliminated."

This laser is therefore very advanced and was said to be "a true breakthrough vascular laser," [David M Cauger, President of Boston Aesthetics LLC, October 2005, Aesthetics].

The Dermatology Department at Great Ormond Street Hospital is the leading centre in the UK for the treatment of birthmarks. This appeal is to raise funds for the Cynosure Cynergy II Laser to be installed at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
